Does anyone else paint?

This image of an elderly person is one that has purely come out of my imagination, so if it happens to look like anyone CONGRATULATION ! your now in print

As a young child I used to doodle a lot and my writing books at school were covered all over front and back with squiggles and decorative shapes. You can imagine after a few months of sketching my teachers would say "get some folders put on and make them presentable" " Not that there was anything rude on them of cause, they just looked a bit messy! (well) at least in their eyes they did?
There wasn't any of those coloured plastic folders you can buy today, we had to make our own using brown paper, or for a few of us who liked something different patterned wallpaper . We couldn't afford to buy it from the shops, so we would raid our parents leftovers after decorating and did swaps at school so all our books looked a mass of different colours. I carried my books in a leather satchel , no lockers for us they weren't thought of in those days.
I use a computer software (Coral Digital Painter X ) to do my paintings. I can pick and choose from different media's such as oils, water colour, chalk etc. there's no easel to find room for in your home, you don't get your hands messy and no brushes to clean afterwards.
Some will say that this is cheating and the only way to truly paint is to have the smell of the oils and turpentine under your nose to give you that kick of adrenaline before painting. All I will say is try it first before you make your opinion. In any case it suits me and I'm sure million of others.

A mouse can be used but I personally use a Wacom intuos3 which is essentially a pen and tablet (board) that you plug into your computer. This makes it easier for me as I suffer with a few aches and pains in my hands and gripping the mouse hurts like hell after a while. I work from a box room upstairs, if anybody doesn't know - a box room in England is a tiny weeny bedroom that you cannot even swing a cat around in (don't worry its just a saying , I haven't tried it !) You can just managed to fit a single bed in and not much else this way the houses can be advertised as 3 bedroom instead of two?

I'm working on some greeting cards at the moment to give to my hospice shop near to where I live, I've got about 12 different designs which are suitable for children, mums and dads so I'm hoping these will sell to raise a bit of money for them.

  1. Thank you for your kind words on my blog Hope, Good luck with your new blog, I like your paintings very much and love the school girl especially - (VERY "St Trinians")
A small series of these in different poses would make a great card set.

Will be keeping an eye out for your updates
